Title: Bamboo Secrets
Season & Theme: Summer (tanabata) @
4seasons_fics
Band: Gazette
Chapters: Oneshot
Author:
chinesetakeout
Genre: fluff, romance
Warnings: None
Rating: PG
Pairings: Reita/Ruki
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Synopsis: No one — especially not Reita — needed to know what he’d written, what he'd wished for.
Comments: I hardly ever write this pairing, but it was the only one I could match up with the idea I had for it.
“Isn’t it sad,” Ruki said into the darkness, his face illuminated by the glow of his burning cigarette, “that the two lovers can only meet on this very night?”
Reita shrugged indifferently, watching as people set lanterns afloat on bamboo, lighting up the river in front of them beautifully. The entire area was packed, from the river to the town nearby, filled with people simply enjoying themselves. Ruki had privately asked Reita to accompany him to this, though as to why... Well, Reita was still trying to figure that much out himself.
“I wrote a message on bamboo,” Ruki commented, blowing smoke out of his mouth slowly.
“Did you hang it?” Reita asked, expecting a ‘yes’ in response but merely getting Ruki’s head as he shook it. Patiently, he waited for an explanation, slightly annoyed when Ruki gave him none.
“Well?” Ruki spoke, staring at Reita expectantly.
“ ‘Well?’ what?” Reita replied, getting more and more irritated by the moment.
“Aren’t you going to ask me what I wrote on it?” Ruki said, saying it with such a tone that Reita couldn’t help but feel like he missed out on some very subtle clue.
“What did you write on it, then?” Reita caved, shifting from side-to-side.
“Not telling,” Ruki teased, laughing at Reita’s upset expression. He tossed his cigarette to the floor, stomping it out with one foot before leaning over to press a hand against Reita’s chest.
“Come with me,” he said to Reita, reaching down to grab Reita’s hand and lead him off to nowhere in particular.
No one — especially not Reita — needed to know what he’d written, what he'd wished for.
Nobody needed to know he’d wished for Reita.
--------
Yay, Reita/Ruki.
In the beginning, Ruki is referring to that on the night of the tanabata (I'm not giving specific dates because differenet areas have different dates), but he's talking about how two lovers in the sky can only meet on the night of the tanabata. If you want to read more about it, go to wiki. I'm to lazy to write a full description here. :D
Reita is also referring to how wishes are usually hung up, which is why he asked Ruki about it. They're bought on certain papers and things and hung up for different meanings, but Ruki decided to make his own.
